Residential Excavation, Earthworks & other Groundworks
When clearing a new site for a build or an extension, we go through a number of groundwork steps to prepare the site for the builders.
The first step is to excavate the area, level the area with fill as necessary, and then prepare the ground to be able to hold the weight of the new building.

Excavation is the process of removing earth to form a cavity or platform. Often this involves the removal of vegetation & topsoil, and in rocky areas, it can involve the removal of rock & other denser substrate.

The next earthwork step is to create areas of level land for building foundations or recreational areas, by filling in any areas that are lower than the desired building platform. These two together are called cut & fill. During this stage, channels for underground infrastructure may be laid, ready for the foundation building & services connection stages.
